2C.3 – Light Passing Through A Lens

(1) Rays parallel to the principal axis will be refracted by the lens to pass through the focal point on the other side of the lens

(2) Rays passing through the optical centre are not deviated

(3) Rays passing through the focal point on one side of the lens will be refracted by the lens to emerge parallel to the principal axis on the other side of the lens

(4) Rays parallel to each other will converge to a point on the focal plane

(5) Rays from a point on an object will converge at the same point on the image on the other side of the lens (if a real image is formed)

Example
Show the path of the rays after passing through the converging lens.
