Thrust

Thrust is a force that is produced by an engine when it expels gas molecules at high speed (in a direction opposite to the thrust).

• An aeroplane or a rocket is propelled in a specific direction by thrust.
• The forward thrust on a car is sometimes labelled as forward driving force.

Note:  Do not confuse thrust with upthrust.
